WBA STANDING COMMITTEES
In November, 2011, the Board of Directors and officers established three "standing committees" as described below. We strongly encourage each member of the Association to commit to lending their talents, time and resources to at least one of these committees. Members will begin sugning up for these committees at the Associations December, 2011 meeting.
The primary responsibilities of the education committee are:
Ø to establish and maintain a speakers bureau consisting of qualified association beekeepers who are prepared and willing to do presentations to schools, civic groups, gardening clubs, etc. on a variety of topics related to beekeeping and honeybees.
Ø To coordinate WBA’s participation and support of the SC Beekeepers Association educational booth at the annual SC State Fair in October.
Ø To plan, organize and secure qualified instructors for the WBA’s annual beekeepers class, as well as secure educational materials for the class, coordinate registration of students, collect fees and monitor the class sessions.
Ø Any other special projects approved by the Board of Directors that the committee wishes to initiate related to education of the public or beekeepers.
The primary responsibilities of the Social Committee are:
Ø To plan and coordinate the annual Association Picnic
Ø To coordinate refreshments at monthly meetings
Ø To establish and maintain a group of designated “greeters” who are responsible for introducing any visitors at our monthly meetings to the rest of the group.
Ø To develop and maintain a group of volunteer “mentor” beekeepers and coordinate the pairing of these mentors with any new beekeeper who requests a mentor.
Ø Any other special projects approved by the Board of Directors that the committee wishes to initiate related to the social functions of the Association.
The primary responsibilities of the fund raising/public relations committee are:
Ø To develop an official logo for the Wateree Beekeepers Association.
Ø To develop and coordinate fund raising activities such as sales of t-shirts, contribution drives or other endeavors which are designed to raise funds for the association Promote special association events in the community such as observance of National Honeybee Day, etc, by preparing press releases, public service announcements, etc.
Ø Any other special projects approved by the Board of Directors that the committee wishes to initiate related to fund raising or public relations.
